yes - the first two movies jive very well with the books - as a book fan the third movie has been the weakest - I'm still really bitter about some of the liberties the director took and with some of the things he left out
I do still enjoy the movie though - I think of them seperately as well- and like both - but I do enjoy the books a great deal more than the movies
