First time I heard Whenever I Call You Friend, I nearly flipped out, cause I had no idea she had sung on any other duets that L&L and SDMHA (this was many eons ago, when I had just discovered Stevie), and I was sooooooo sure it was her. It took some research (before the age of internet) and I was so thrilled when I found out it WAS her. Same with when I heard Gold and Midnight Wind. When I was a teen and still living at home (ah, those were the days), I used to go to sleep with my radio on, and I actually used to wake up whenever a Stevie song came on. Talk about my ear being tuned in to her voice. Was very weird.
same here! i can identify her voice even if the sound is turned so low that no one else even notices music playing... i'll randomly be in the middle of a phone conversation in the car go "hold on a sec, i gotta turn up the radio" and then sure enough, it's her... it's like some strange sound wavelength that i'm totally tuned into.... or i'll be dead asleep with the alarm clock going full blast for 10 or 15 minutes (people that know me know that i have a terrible problem with alarm clocks and waking up in general... i need three or four of them hidden around the room and going at full blast for me to sort of wake up) and i won't wake up at all... but then a song like landslide will just barely start the opening notes and i'm wide awake and sitting up in bed. i'll smile and go "g'morning stevie!" and get up. or if it's a fleetwood mac song i'll go "g'morning guys!" and get up. yeah. i'm a dork. i admit it.
