Maybe considering how much I like his Fleetwood Mac work, I should venture out and get his other stuff.

Wow. I'm speechless. I honestly can't disagree with you more, and I'm a Mason die-hard.
Well, if you've never heard his other stuff, you're in for a REAL treat. Now, a lot of his stuff is out of print, but that's okay. I'm going to recommend three albums (two studio albums and one compilation) that will give you a great overview on Dave's career. The first album is Traffic's self-titled, second album. Second is Dave's first solo album, "Alone Together." Both albums are about as close to perfect as you can get. Not a single bad song on either. These albums both received critical acclaim. The third album is a compilation that covers his CBS years, and most of those albums are no longer in print. While the songs that are featured on it aren't necessarily MY favorites from those albums, it's still an excellent place to start.

Now, there's an album that is out of print, but can be found pretty easily on Amazon in which you may be interested.
It's a one-off he did with "Mama" Cass Elliot.
