Well, I actually MAY be able to top it. I saw the Zoo in 1992. They were playing at some small club in Dayton, promoting "Shakin' The Cage." Anyway, I saw Bekka Bramlett at the bar, and kindly introduced myself. Well, even then, I was 6 feet tall with a linebacker build, I have red hair, and I was wearing a red t-shirt. In other words, I was kind of hard to miss. Oh, and I was sitting right in front of the stage. During the encore set, they were doing the Don Nix song "Going Down," which Fleetwood Mac used to do in the early '70s and Peter Green did with the Splinter Group. Well, Bekka jumped off stage and had people in the audience sing with her. I was one of those people. She even called me her friend from Dayton! Now, while most people wouldn't care that they were singing with Bekka Bramlett (which would have made my night by itself), remember, Mick Fleetwood was playing drums! So, for that brief two seconds I got to live the dream! My life was fulfilled at the tender age of eighteen!
Funny thing about that show. Afterwards, I asked Mick if they were going to add any Delaney & Bonnie songs. He said, "yeah, the one they did by Dave Mason...He did it too on one of his solo albums. I don't remember the title, but Bekka will be able to tell you." Talk about an omen!
When I got home, I pulled out my copy of Delaney & Bonnie's "On Tour With Eric Clapton" CD and my copy of Dave Mason's "Alone Together" and the song was "Only You Know And I Know," which Lindsey has said was one of the songs that influenced "Second Hand News." Incidentally, the next time I saw Mick and Bekka, they did "Only You Know And I Know," only this time it was with Fleetwood Mac.
