Yup. I'm sure Stone embellished quite a bit (as is his way) but he did do a great job with Val. I think John Densmore (or maybe it was Ray Manzarek?) commented that he felt really weird on the set because Val was so creepily identical to Jim. I guess that would be weird.

That is pretty weird.
I haven't read Densmore's book either but did read NHGOA and was riveted. What a crazy, dangerous, gifted man he was.
