I even think he knew that he wasn't a viable solo artist to begin with and only continued it because he loved what he was doing on his own. To me, he believed in Out of the Cradle with all of his heart, promoted it because it was his baby, and just put his all behind it because he was happy for once. I honestly don't think he expected it to sell well at all, just like his previous albums. It's a shame, too, because it was (and still is) his masterpiece.

Again, I really don't agree. I think that album was his most confident project ever. If he had released it in 1991, it very well could have been a hit. But, in 1992, Nirvana et. al. were taking over, and the Mac were totally irrelevant. I think he waited because he didn't want to compete with Fleetwood Mac or a solo Stevie Nicks, and 1992 was really the first opportunity for that to happen. For Lindsey, OOTC was uncharted territory. It was the first time he wasn't chained to the band, and could devote all of his time and energy on his solo career, without worrying about his solo album being extrapolated into a Fleetwood Mac album.
