I have to say that I enjoyed much about Vegas but would have been depressed by the strip itself for a stay of more than a few days. The main reason being the fake icons themselves. I didn't find them in the least breath taking and more depressing. The whole time we were there my mother was cursing about how depressing it is that we were stuck in the fake ones when we could have gone to the real Luxor or the real Venice etc. In particular I remember being depressed by the Luxor as we were surrounded by people on their last legs (sometimes literally) continually feeding the machines and all the horrid glitz, and it occuring to me that the real thing is much more extraordinary. I guess it's different strokes but I found the replicas to be incredibly depressing, like fake experiences.

Um sorry, that wasn't the correct response was it?
I think it's a perfect response Lux.

Vegas seems to be about recreating things.. Faking it for profit really.. I mean that's what the place is about isn't it? Greed.. America invented the idea of greedy profit making enterprises in the first place so it's right it should have the biggest and best..

Not that I think it's a bad idea, kind of like some surreal dream world where you see families coming to blow the kid's college fund on the slots and the elderly masses converge on the place like something in Cocoon..

The world has many really amazing man made sights, the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids, the Great Wall of China and Vegas itself is just that, a man made sight, and recreating the older ones too, albeit in a totally tacky way..
