Yeah, I totally understand that, and what Johnny Stew said - his Mac output was a bit limited sometimes for sure, and it puts a lot of people off - me included to start with. But when I picked up the "Flee" album I was pretty surprised - nowhere near Elmore James, Buddy Holly or Elvis!
It's not perfect by any means, but it is different to his Mac stuff.
The other post-Mac solo album that Jeremy did was "Jeremy Spencer & The Children" which was religious rock, drawing on many contemporary 70s influences (not 50s rock 'n' roll!) - parts of it sound a bit like Mac circa '71-'72, particularly some Kirwan-esque guitar. If you don't mind the religious/spiritual lyrics, give it a try
There's a live album also, recorded much more recently, but I've never heard it
