No, he was permanently situated on the stage throughout the entire performance, like Brett on later tours -- although Dan wasn't credited in the "Cage" tourbook as anything more than a tech.
Another thing: in the live two-page shot of the band onstage at one of the "Cage" shows that's in the "Mask" tourbook, there's ANOTHER guitarist way off to the side (near the shot of Asante). It might be Ray Lindsey, the guitar tech in 1987/88 (I can't tell because the photo is so blurry).

Both -- they finally gave him credit for being an instrumentalist & programmer for the band in the "Mask" tourbook.
