yeah, Mirage.....only us diehards could decipher that! There's also another photo somewhere in a book (i think it may even be one of Mick's books!) showing Mick coupled with his long scraggly 1977 beard and the old african talking drum at stevie's square mike....
and the caption reads, "don't stop 1980." hmmmm.
one of my favorites from too long ago was in Hit Parader magazine around 1983. I think it was a small feature on FM. The interviews were all recent, since they were discussing Mirage and the fear (or what i percieved was a general lack of forlorn, judging from the band's comments) that Stevie might leave the group to persue her blossoming solo career. The article reported that regarding Stevie's music, Christine said, "
Her songs are like children to her, even though some of them are rubbish." I can actually hear Christine saying that in her distinctive accent. Similarly, Lindsey criticizes, "
I've always thought her material was a little flaky." They may have really said these things, but obviously singling them out of the entire conversation like that seems quite scolding. Or, maybe that writer embellished a bit.
My whole point is....so they manage to dig up this photo of Stevie apparently backstage at the 1978 Grammy Awards talking, and she's holding her hand out in front of her, palm up, as if she's expecting someone to give her change. the caption reads: "this is the reaction Stevie gave after hearing former boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham say, 'i've always thought her material was a little flaky.'"
ummm......no.
flaky rubbish
