I tried to make it through all 8 pages - but I'm giving up - I'll just reply to the question originally asked.

I was raised Catholic and still consider myself Catholic.

I don't follow the Vatican rules per se - I go to church (though not as much as I'd like to) and I take part in the ritual - which I love.

I like the symbolism and history (yes, good and bad) of the Catholic church. I was not raised in an extremely strict environment - we went to church almost every Sunday but I was always taught that it's healthy and good to question - and not to take anything at face value - but to constantly question and challenge your faith...otherwise how do you grow in your faith?

I also don't take church teachings and things as my own beliefs because I am an individual first and foremost. I lean toward more liberal Catholic churches - and even some that are no longer even recognized by the Vatican because they've chosen to do things that go against its teachings.

I try to be respectful of all people's views..but a lot of times that respect is not reciprocated (ie - saying people who follow a faith are weak or ignorant.) I am not weak or ignorant - I know that my faith may not be absolute truth - but I CHOOSE to follow it because it gives me strength and comfort - and it feels good knowing that someone is watching out for me.
