I heard 'Rhiannon' on the radio when I was five years old, in late 1975, and I was just blown away. I turned to my Mom in our car, and told her that I was naming my future daughter Rhiannon...of course, I don't think she took me too serious, but I was very serious. I never forgot the song, the name, or Stevie...and fifteen years later, when my daughter was born, my husband and I named her Rhiannon. Then almost seven years later, along came our second daughter...we named her after my Grandfather, but her middle name is Stephanie. My husband loves their names, and never had a problem with it, thank goodness. I will say that Rhiannon has a difficult time, sometimes, at school...believe it or not, many people haven't a clue who Stevie is, let alone the song 'Rhiannon,' and many a teacher and students have pronounced her name wrong over the years. Until Rhiannon corrects them, they call her 'Rhiana' and 'Briana' ~ everything except Rhiannon. I've even had to write the pronounciation down on paper, for one of her teachers, when she was in the 1st grade! You should see how many people can't spell it, as well! Rhiannon is so proud of her name, though...and once her friends find out about her name, and the story behind it, they think it's really cool.
