My speculation is right there with Svnwndrs'. Sounds to me like Stevie was involved in yet another forbidden love affair (there
is someting strangely addictive to it, and Stevie has definitely had her fair share of affairs with unavailable guys - I think it's a defence mechanism/protection thing, but that's a whole other thread!!), and yes, I had also heard that it was at that point that Rupert found out his wife was pregnant. In fact, if you do the math on one of his kids' ages, it works. I've seen a post to that end somewhere.
But I can't help but hope Romy is right, too - and it was just a flash of good sense!!
