I would much rather have Not Make Believe on the album than Silver Girl. I love the production! I agree, her vocals on the first verse are very nasally and for a long while, it turned me off from the song. After I got over that initial shock, I really started enjoying the song and feel like it fits in so well with her TISL and SYW songs. I like the theme she has going on.
The "sometimes it was too heavy" line is so so..it is very Stevie so I can deal with it.
The one part I really do not get is "they both rushed by, like a thief in the night, taking no prisoners, just like the first time"...(sorry if those are not the EXACT words) What on earth is she referring to? I understand the Dickens reference and the "taking no prisoners" line always reminds me of Peacekeeper. I just do not really understand that line.."taking no prisoners..just like the first time". Maybe I just do not get it.
