The Dance Stevie was the one I fell in love with, too, simply because I wasn't familiar with her previous work! In fact, when I bought the White Album, I was disappointed in the fact they didn't sound more like they did on the Dance (specifically, I'm So Afraid and Landslide). ISA for obvious reasons, lol, but in the case of Landslide the studio version just didn't seem as emotive, and I missed the little improvisation in the middle - "'cause I, I've built my life around you." This is also true for Silver Springs. While the old one is charming, the Dance version is a lot more emotionally powerful. Of course this is all subjective, but I think a lot of people who got hooked by the Dance view that Stevie as the definitive one, as hard as it is for some of you veteran fans to imagine! It is indeed true that you gravitate towards what you hear first, in most cases at least.
