Hardly - at least in this instance. If most people said they were at the hospital, sick, in the care of a doctor, and actually were there (as Jackson was here), a recess would be granted, etc.
Here, this Judge refused even to talk to Jackson's doctor
and ordered him to be there in an hour, which I submit in LA it is hard to cross the street in an hour
This indicates this judge is cutting Jackson no slack and certainly not giving him preferential treatment. IMO who can blame the Judge when Jackson has behaved like an ass by coming to court late, conducting a dance a thon outside of the courthouse, and dressing like a circus act in the courtroom.
