Now, Now, Homie. To each his own as far as musical tastes, and I'm not looking to start another epic debate here... but we can't bash Stevie for "pandering to the masses" while letting Christine go scott-free.
We're in "Double Standard" territory again with that.
Lindsey has cited Christine as one of the biggest opponents in FM to his more off the wall approach, and her three solo albums definitely demonstrate her "mainstream sensibilities." If one wants to be cynical about it, Christine's music has always been "middle of the road" and "for the masses" (the fact that she's had the most hit singles with the band, is a further demonstration of that fact).
I'm not knocking Christine here, mind you. My opinion is that if you LIKE pop music, and you WANT to make pop music, then there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't.
With perhaps a few exceptions here and there, Christine and Stevie have seemingly always recorded the type of music THEY wanted to record. That's not "pandering to the masses," it's being true to one's own personal preferences.
Christine and Stevie have more mainstream tastes... and sometimes that frustrates fans... but that doesn't lessen the value of their artistry.
