It's how to play the game. There's no groveling involved, it's just simply adhering to the requests of the taper in terms of file format.

This is true. I'm well aware of the fact. But the way in which is was done was downright disrespectful. It's one thing to encode it to mp3. It's another to make it available on the internet in mp3. And it's QUITE another thing to in effect say 'Screw you, your request means nothing to me.' If I were the taper, I wouldn't expect groveling. Just a certain amount of respect and discretion.
