I like the song - sometimes more than others. I even like Welcome to the Room...Sara...sometimes. I feel they don't work well with the album though. Seven Wonders fits nicely, the other two just don't fit. Lindsey and Chris meshed so well on that album-Stevie just seemed strangely out of the loop. That is probably what I dislike most about them-they seem to be sort of road blocks in the album. It's rolling along nicely, and then clunk-there's a Stevie song that doesn't fit, thrown down like a barricade someone once said. I would say lyrically I like WISYA better than Family Man (JMO) but even there Family MAn fits the album better and flows into the big picture (the album as a whole) nicer.
It is really difficult to decribe Stevie's voice-especially in songs like that. I mean, we can all try, but would anyone who didn't know her really get a realistic sound in their heads from these decriptions? To me it sounds like if you have a head cold and you talk in your cootchie-cootchie-coo baby voice (and that sounds negative but I do like it). She phased into that voice hear and there on Rock A Little, which I beleive the People magazine review of that album said something like "Stevie sounds like a bizare mix of Edith Piaf and Elmer Fudd". Now there's a description, huh?
And since this is an appreciation thread, I will say, the line after that read, "But Nicks is too smooth a pro to allow her vocal idiosyncracies to mar the record..."
