I love the opening guitar but I've never been able to get passed the cheesey 80's guitar that keeps the melody throughout the song.
I was kind of hoping for a stripped-down less produced version.

There are three different versions out there:
80's Outtake: It's been circulating for ages and while the quality leaves a LOT to be desired, it's very cool and has this "dueling voices" effect that I wish had been used to some extent on the album version.
Early Mix: Stevie's vocals are brought way up to the front of the mix, as is Lindsey's guitar, but the rest is really pushed back. The ending is amplified instead of fading out like the album version. Lindsey's backing vocals are much more audible and Stevie's vocals have an echo effect added to them.
Instrumental Mix: With the exception of Lindsey's backing vocals on the chorus, this is an instrumental track. Some of his vocals are different from the album version, as are a little of his guitar work.
