It's a rather childish and naive statment, IMO.
She was also on Access Hollywood last year and was questioned about the Dixie Chicks controversy. She made a rather absurd comment about people not speaking out against the war.

What Stevie said in regards to what happened to the Dixie chicks is ," I've been in the business for a long time, I love my career to much, to make such a political statement as the Dixie chicks". She is not a political activist, she is an entertainer and she knows this. She is also aware of the backlash you can get from your public, with such a negative statement, as the dixie chicks are now learning about. If the chicks were so firm on believing in their statement why did they then take back what they said? To me that is absurd, not what Stevie said. I commend Stevie for keeping low key about her political views. As for what you stated she said about JAckson, that sounds like it was more out of fear for him because when you are a public figure and you put yourself in that kind of situation it can be harmful to you, riots and so on. I dont believe tho for one minute that she doesnt think you shouldnt stand up for things you believe you just have to be extra careful with what you say and how you do it. Cause either way the public is going to beat you down for it.
