Actually, I wasn't basing my interpretation that Miranda is a drug addict, on the "she sticks the camera right into her arm" line, which I agree is Lindsey's brilliant way of comparing her attention craving to that of a drug addict (specifically a herion addict) sticking the needle into their arm to get their fix.

However, there are a couple of other lines that I did interpret to mean that Miranda does abuse substances.
Namely:
"The walls all close in, as the fancy takes flight."
"She slips down headlong into the night."
and "All the daylight is poison to her eyes... she slips down the shade and lets herself drown."

All of which, to me, sound like they're eloquently describing someone falling into a drug-induced state. An altered reality.

Anyway, that's just how I interpreted them.
