Here I thought Lindsey was being the poet. I thought he was saying the camera is to an attention hound like a needle is to a drug addict. Miranda really craves attention in a way that is unhealthy. I thought he was equating it to drug addiction, but not that the person is an actual drug addict like Carol Ann or Stevie.
Anne Heche got most of her fame from her high profile relationships rather than her work. Lindsey must have seen her strong desire to be famous as a negative. It sure was for him. Guess he was not high profile enough during his OOTC tour so she moved on.
