It doesn't seem likely that Stevie would change for anyone, lol, but her vehement "I'm talking to YOU" implies that she was NOT going to allow him to shift it away from himself, and that's decidedly personal..... I could go either way on that one. Let's just say the fact that it was Lindsey couldn't have helped, lol.
But Stevie likes to put Lindsey in his place regarding her lyrics! lol She has to assert herself somewhere. Lindsey is in control of so many other things. I've always thought that Stevie, feeling inadequate musically as the only one who didn't play an instrument, fell back on her "poetry" as her untouchable domain. Lindsey apparently agrees, because he also has said Stevie's writing is her strong suit and not his. I would argue that is not always the case.... but that's another topic.
