I was all psyched to have another version to collect.
I love the WOS version - much more firey & with edgy harmonies on the chorus.

I think the vocals were the issue here. Stevie's main verses sound a little rough for my taste. Maybe she was having trouble getting the "feel" of her performance to match Lindsey's production? Maybe that's why they retreated to the more subdued (in comparison) version on the album...
Also, think of the "you'll have to sing it that high every night on stage" discussion from the last VH1 special. I don't know if Stevie was talking specifically about "Thrown Down", but her chorus part in the WOS version is much higher that what wound up on the album. And we all know for a fact she doesn't sing the high parts on stage anymore (or, really, ever did after 1980).
