I agree that Mick and probably the record label who always want to sell as many records as possible too, would have insisted to include more dates. But let's remember the Mirage Tour lasted just 2 months, and they only played in USA. 33 shows according to Wikipedia, pretty exhaustive.

So there was a precedent, and 1987 wasn't very different from 1982 regarding Stevie and Lindsey's projects, and probably Christine's lack of desire to travel much, Mick wrote he "felt sick when we stopped touring" and sure he would have proposed more dates, cause the Shake the Tour finally lasted 3 months, more than 8 weeks but not much more, not considering the Europe dates that started in may, so there was a long break. Just guessing, I think the others would have accepted just the 8 weeks if Lindsey had stayed. Anyway I'm just speculating. It's just the What If game; we'll never know what would have happened.
