Recently I read an piece about Waddy back in the day trying to convince Lindsey to not play 'this fairies and castle sh*t' and 'let's go play some real rock and roll'.
People today forget how little respect women in general got in those days; it wasn't just Stevie. But most of the other male musicians were not impressed or interested in her songs...but Lindsey was. He put faith in her songwriting and their singing together. He championed her when others did not.
When Mick reached out he was asking LINDSEY to join. Again, Lindsey championed her and said no we are a duo and we're working on a second album and we're a package deal. He could have bailed on her and left her to figure out how to turn her stuff into actual records by herself (never happen) or find another devoted man to do it.
When they joined Chris has said she never really knew what to do with Stevie's songs, her little two-finger pinging on the piano.. but Chris said Lindsey knew what to do and would translate the idea to Chris. Where was Stevie? Partying or having fun somewhere because showing up to the studio was no fun (because she had nothing to do because... wait for it... she isn't a musician) and because showing up and being involved was like being in the Army. Wahhhhhhh.
I'm disliking this article even more as I work through it.
