I think that fall was a bit staged but Billy still has his voice. No autotune or backing tracks. Billy has been doing stadium and huge summer tours for decades now. I remember in the late 90s when he and Elton John teamed up. Then they did it again or more times claiming it was their farewell tour. The bottom line is the money is too good to give up. Its the same reason Stevie is still on the road. Stevie made more money on her 24K Gold solo tour than all of her solo tours and early Mac tours combined. Many nights her tour grossed over 1 million in one night. Its insane money. Ticket prices are super high and these concerts fill the seats. They like to perform and the money is too good to quit. In the old days artists made their money off hit albums. The songwriters got rich. Today its all touring that makes them insane amount of money. Even 1 hit wonders tour every summer and make more money than when they were a current band.
Christine kept going too. Some nights her voice would crack and eventually she was not even playing piano anymore. I say do it if it makes you happy and there are still people willing to pay to see you.

The copious amounts of cash these tours yield is the reason Mick agreed to throw Lindsey out of the band. Money changes everything.
