I was reading some of the comments about Lindsey's upcoming "20th Century Lindsey" album on the SuperDeluxeEdition website, and someone noted about meeting him and asking him about when Buckingham Nicks might see a release. Mind you, the timeframe of the conversation he's talking about was a while ago and I think there has to be more at hand, especially considering the tumultuous nature of Lindsey and Stevie's relationship currently. But I guess it does shed a certain light on the release (or, rather, non release) of the album, which in my opinion should have happened right after "The Dance" happened. It was the perfect opportunity to bring it back into the light for a successful relaunch.
(Sigh) I've said it before, I'll say it again: this band are the kings and queens of squandered opportunities. Anyways, here's the comment:
"Back and in 1992, during the original release of Out of the Cradle, I had the opportunity to go and see Lindsey perform in a tiny restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. It was a special thing for a few contest winners of the radio station WNCI. I still can’t believe it happened because I got to sit in a tiny room with, maybe, 20 other people and listen to Lindsey play through nearly a dozen songs, just himself and a nylon string guitar, and it was glorious. Afterwards, he was kind enough to sit at a table and chat with us, sign our things… When it was my turn I genuinely gushed about Out of the Cradle, telling him that I thought it was going to be regarded as an all-time masterpiece (I was right) and how I hoped he was going to keep giving us solo stuff. He could not have been more kind or gracious. As my time with him grew to a close I suddenly remembered to ask if there were any plans to reissue Buckingham/Nicks on compact disc. He told me “Well, I really want it to be re-released. The problem we’re having is that there are some people involved who are insisting that we go back in and update the sound, maybe remix things a bit, and I’m not onboard with that.” He added that he was pretty sure that it would be out within the next year. This was 1992/lol."
