I like Stevie. I give her a lot of credit for cleaning up her act. I just can't listen to most of her new stuff, Goodbye Baby being a huge exception. And, man, what a beautiful song! Running Through the Garden has decent vocals, but the production is too 80s for me, so that could be Lindsey's fault.
Johnny Stew, Stevie could moo on tape and you'd still defend it to the death. Admit it. Nothing wrong with your fandom, my friend. In fact, I kind of admire how you stick up for her. The last thing I would want to do is discourage anyone from listening to something they like. So even when I knock Stevie's voice or songwriting, I am by no means trying to get people to not listen to her.

I forget which producer said it recently, but the fella said he hasn't yet worked with a singer who wasn't aided by Pro Tools. Maybe I can have my career in music after all!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Stevie wouldn't, or hasn't, or didn't... I just wished to bring up another possibility... and that possibility is, that Pro Tools were used in some other capacity.
After all, fixing vocals is not their sole use.
They weren't necessarily used to "extensively" repair Stevie's voice, simply because the Pro Tools engineer receives a credit... as was stated by dissention.
I also wanted to make clear the fact that Pro Tools were apparently not used (given the lack of a Pro Tools engineer credit) on "Sorcerer," where Stevie is singing notes we don't usually hear from her.
Since dissention insisted that she couldn't have hit those notes without "major help," I wanted to present the other side of the argument.
CarneVaca, I realize I'm one of Stevie's most vocal "defenders" here (as if she really needs me or anyone to defend her), just as you're one of Lindsey's biggest defenders.
The one thing that should be understood though, is that I've never said, or hopefully even implied, that I think she's perfect or has done no wrong.
But when sweeping statements are made, or when opinions are offered in a tone that implies they're fact, I am going to offer a rebuttal of sorts.
As I've said in the past... probably many times by now... when I get enjoyment out of something, I don't put a lot of conditions upon it, or look at it with a cynical eye.
It's not that I have an unrealistic view of things, but life's just too damn short to be cynical and jaded all the time... especially when it comes to music, which is meant to be entertaining.
If something doesn't entertain me, I move on. I've been a Nicks die-hard for seventeen years now, and I haven't lost interest once... which unfortunately I can't say for most every other artist I've been a fan of over the years.
Now, as far as whether I would defend Stevie mooing on tape.... hmmm, I guess if I thought she was doing something experimental and avant garde, then I might defend it, sure.
By the way, I appreciated your comments about not meaning to discourage anyone from listening to something they like.
