I listened to the first two albums the other day on Spotify. I was having trouble making out differences in the remastering or some of the different mixes. Everything sounded very faint to me, to begin with. I’ve heard that Spotify tampers with the volume of many albums, but I thought they usually drive it up, not down, toward distortion rather than away. Is it possible that Spotify lowered the volume, or did the engineering lower the volume to maneuver more room to work?
