Merf, I think Cammie meant that Lindsey decided to turn Peacekeeper into a romantic song after the fact. He didn't write it as such. I don't believe the implication was that Stevie can't sing anything but romantic songs. That's clearly not the case.
It is important to remember the point you made: that lindsey wanted Stevie in the song.
