It is correct in the Making of Rumours/Classic Albums video (1997), Lindsey told that story and how he answered they (he and Stevie) were kind of a "package deal", when he was asked to join Fleetwood Mac.
But that is no new. It is in Mick's first book, too. And probably other articles, interviews, etc.
