Not to mention they rerecorded a Buckingham Nicks song on a studio album.
The idea that you keep doing this, comparing crap from 1970, 1975, or 1990 to anything in 2018 is ridiculous. It was completely different. These were active bands! This wasn’t a new band. This band did nothing but play live shows. Nobody will ever remember the 2018-19 iteration of this band as nothing but a complete footnote on the Fleetwood Mac story. There was no reason for this abrupt change other than placating ONE PERSON and their ego.

And at the end of the day, Christine is friggin dead and the band is done! That is how it ended. With a cobbled together set of players who have no connection to the band’s DNA doing covers of a guy who was in the band EARLIER THAT YEAR and bringing in their own songs to fill out a set. And for many, me included, this is why I hated this from day 1. I had a bad feeling, at their ages, that something would happen that would ever prevent that true final reconvening. Admittedly my money was on the other McVie initially. And then Lindsey. I didn’t think it would be Chris but here we are.

So I’m glad people enjoyed hearing Stevie sing BMW, I Got You, Neil Finn singing GYOW, and of course, the two poignant moments of the show - Don’t Dream It’s Over and Free Fallin’. For me, it forever tarnished the band and their legacy and prevented any sort of proper ending. This band and the music is the soundtrack to so many of our lives. This isn’t about Lindsey either - I’m a FM fan first and foremost and long have said that the five of them needed each other and have always been 10x better together than their best solo work.
