I agree 100%. I have never wished Stevie, or anyone, to be dead, and certainly would never even jokingly put it in writing. I was one of her biggest fans, loved her like crazy. But first and foremost, I was an ENORMOUS fan of FM. So anyone breaking up the band is not cool in my books. And that happens to be SN, MF, and now...much to my surprise CM. We keep forgetting that John was the only one to respond to Lindsey's emails initially, to tell him that he couldn't engage with him. Now, I don't even trust John, to tell you the truth.
But Phil, that comment was in bad taste, shows a lack of empathy, shows immaturity and general poor judgement. The man had a major heart health event, that's serious. Grow up man. Always act as if your kids are watching (if you are old enough to have any), and remember to consider that karma's a b***h.
