But I think something else was at work during her time away, too. It wasn’t just an ugly divorce, fear of flying, etc that kept her away from the world for so long. I think she may have had some sort of breakdown. Ken Caillat certainly thought she was well on that road when he wrote his book.

Whatever the case, do I think Chris could have shut down all the events of this year? Old Christine could have, yes. But the power structure in the band is so very different now... the band is clearly not a democracy anymore, nor has Mick been the boss for decades. And in the end, what Stevie wants in the 21st century, Stevie gets. It also appears Lindsey’s firing & replacement took place entirely behind Christine’s back. Could Chris have simply chosen to walk away from this ridiculous charade? Possibly- but I’m guessing she’s avoiding isolation again at all costs.

So am I giving both of the McVie’s a free pass on everything? Kinda. They are the oldest & by far the most frail members of the band. Not to mention we still don’t really know what’s going on with John’s health, and if Christine may be keeping the peace in the band simply to stand with him. We simply don’t know. What we do know is Stevie’s ax to grind with Lindsey has degraded and that Mick will do absolutely anything to keep Stevie happy, the money flowing, and the band playing. So in the end, assigning blame isn’t being emotional or vindictive, it’s simply a matter of deduction.
Christine got into a bit of trouble after ITM. She fell down the steps and hurt her back. She was allegedly drinking and taking her pain meds. She eventually got help and woke up. God bless her.
