Instead a lot of people will forgive the performance because, well, "they're old" or "they were so great back in the day" or "they're legends". That's resting on your laurels and going through the motions for the paycheck.

Gee, when LBCM failed to blow the doors off the joint on their first TV appearance (and, really, the subsequent appearances), this place seemed a bit more forgiving.
