The truth of the matter is we will never truly know what happened, only bits and bobs. This bands reputation and livelihood thrives off of drama and romanticism. Destroy that element of Stevie and Lindsey's contribution to the band by revealing how everything (potentially) ended for good and you dirty the legacy. However, I say potentially because of how 1997 went. Once the band suffers a flop, the Rumours line-up will be back. Nevermind what the rest of the band wants or doesnt want, I dont think Mick's ego can take a loss very well so potentially ending such a long career on a loss? Yeah, I dont think so.
That last line holds so much truth to it. He does not want a farewell tour to end on this note, that I really do believe. And likely why he’s so resistant to using the word “fired”
