Again, speculation. Another speculation, from me: The behind the scenes events leading up to the “ultimatum” could have been so ugly no one wanted to give the real reason so saying touring conflicts was the reason chosen. More speculation: maybe Lindsey is choosing to maintain his track record of silence, even in this unusual circumstance, because the real reason will make him look just as bad as the others, if not worse. And his family is siding with him because...they are his family.
You say “mindless Stevie fans” are in denial that she could have set this in motion, but I think Lindsey fans are just as in denial that he may have had a role to play in this and there was a reason his compromise was denied that had nothing to do with who fills the seats.
