When it was rumored that Mike was the new guitarist, I didn’t totally hate it. If it’s not going to be Lindsey, who could they have gotten that was better? I didn’t think they really needed anyone else, and really hated when it came out that there was going to be another guitarist/lead male vocalist.
However, they got someone I could totally get behind. Neil is a true artist. To put it another way, when a songwriter who has released over 100 albums thinks highly enough of another writer to make a comp of that writer, that puts Neil Finn’s worthiness into perspective. And, I have long maintained that “Don’t Dream It’s Over” was the best pop song of the 1980s.
To be sure, I’m not a fan of what happened, but I wasn’t especially shocked by it. That said, whatever happened had nothing to do with Neil or Mike, so I can’t hold it against them. And, I’m impressed that Fleetwood Mac didn’t completely embarrass themselves this time.

This isn't Crowded House, or Tom Petty's Fajita Roundup. As much as I liked the Time incarnation, once everything came back together in 97, Fleetwood Mac's legacy was cemented forever. Especially when Christine came back.
It's too late for reinvention. They're completely embarrassing themselves doing this. They're gonna look like cheap whores doing this.
