Just use rabbit ears and disconnect your cable
If you are not totally out in the boonies you must be in range of a PBS station - NJ, where I live, has atleast 10-15 stations alone that are PBS affiliates. The largest two are offered with my cable TV subscription. Back in the days of old fashion TVs before they were cable ready they had a UHF and a VHF band and most PBS stations were on the band that the regular channels were not. Find yourself a conventional TV where you can hook up an antenna and try both bands until you find your areas' PBS station.
