Eagles Manager Claims Glenn Frey’s Death was Caused by Arthritis Medication

“He died from complications of ulcer and colitis after being treated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis which he had for over 15 years.” January 21, 2016 6:32 PM

By Jeff Cornell

Irving Azoff, longtime manager of The Eagles has revealed Glenn Frey‘s death was caused in part by medications he took to fight rheumatoid arthritis. The iconic singer and songwriter passed away at the age of 67 on Monday (Jan. 18), due to “complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia.”

Azoff told TheWrap that the medications prescribed to Frey can lead to “disaster.” “The colitis and pneumonia were side effects from all the meds,” he said. “He died from complications of ulcer and colitis after being treated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis which he had for over 15 years.”

TheWrap reports that the medications for rheumatoid arthritis or ulcerative colitis can compromise the immune system’s ability to fight off pneumonia.

Glenn Frey is best known for co-writing some of The Eagles’ biggest songs including “Taking It Easy,” “Heartache Tonight” and “New Kid in Town,” as well as solo hits like “The Heat is On” and “Smuggler’s Blues.” .
