Yes, that is a remarkable achievement but
Long Road Out of Eden was a double album and so it needed to sell 3.5 million copies to achieve the 7xPlatinum award. That's still incredible I think because in 2007 sales still weren't great.
However, if the Mac released an album next year, it would have to be #1 for a very long time if it had any chance of selling anywhere near that. Anyway, it doesn't because nobody actually buys albums anymore. Ah well.
