Of course John is most famous for the bass line in The Chain, but what are your favorite parts of his? For me, my favorite is actually not an FM song, but Lindsey's Gift of Screws. With FM, I love hearing him on Oh Well on the 1980 Live album. On both of those, he really stands out and it really works with the whole song.
