When you think about it, the only member who would be hard to replace on the spot is Lindey. The backup guitarists could step in fro most songs but there are just some that would lose that essential Lindsey-ness. Now, if the show could go on without him, regardless, why not?
John's had someone replace him on stage, Lindsey has sung Stevie's vocals once or twice, and now we've seen that Mick can be easily replaced. it's not a big deal.
