She cuts off her lyric lines (standing in a) and ( in the middle of my). In the second verse it appears she forgets a line and ad-libs it. This performance was highly animated specifically for TV. Strange how also performed Nightbird on this show, but it never performed it on stage. Seeing Sharon on Stand Back is hilarious, watching her stick-figured limbs awkwardly dangling around with no sense of rhythm. She is so seasoned now; cool and smooth.

The SNL show was December 1983 and the Wild Heart Tour was over. Nightbird was released as the third single after If Anyone Falls fell off the chart in late November. So she used the show to launch the third single. If the tour was still ongoing I am sure she would have done it live. In February 1984 Stevie did Nighbird live again on Solid Gold.
On another note, I don't think Nightbird should have been a single. I think Wild Heart could have been extended with Enchanted or Nothing Ever Changes released as the 3rd single.
