Here's what I recall reading:
John wrote the bass section in the song's coda.
The chorus ("and if you don't love me now..." etc.) came from a song of Stevie's.
Lindsey wrote the lyric "listen to the wind blow" and constructed the music.
Which means that Christine apparently wrote the rest of the verses' lyrics.
No one can remember how Mick contributed.
