Drama, drama! Do you remember back in 1990 when both Christine and Stevie announced that they would no longer be performing with Fleetwood Mac? They made a point of letting everybody know that this would be the last opportunity to see them in this context. And you see how long that lasted! Flash forward to 2003... I have heard nothing indicating that this was the farewell tour. And knowing Mick, and his love affair with the dolalr, he would be milking it to the hilt if this was truly the final tour.

Yeah, but we had to wait 7 years....that's nothing to sneeze at....also, that was 13 years ago....hence, everyone was 13 years younger...i don't think they would be foolish to announce a farewell tour because that's just FM....i don't think they've ever announced a "farewell" tour....they may have announced that certain people (ie Stevie/Christine) would no longer tour but never announced a final tour. i don't think they will either. Mick wants to keep that thing going as long as he can and with as many different combination of members as it takes. i can't even say for sure that if Stevie retired that would mean the end of FM...who knows though? time will tell.

As far as getting old on the road is concerned, Stevie is probably the most vulnerable. But the comparisons to others in her age bracket such as Cher and Tina Turner are not fair. They retired because their whole schtick was centered around dancing, choreography and slinky, revealing costumes. Yes, seeing Cher in a fishnet jumpsuit today is a bit frightening! But Stevie has been more about being standing elegantly behind the mic stand and singing the songs. It's her voice and her presence that carry the show, not a lot of gimmicks. Hence, I think she is the type of performer who could perform literally until she drops dead, ala Rosemary Clooney, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, etc. And Deborah Harry, who has a few years on Stevie, will probably keel over in her fishnet stockings and heels behind a mic stand.

I agree that Cher and Tina's shows were a lot more physically demanding but it's all relative. Just because Stevie's shows weren't all choreographed and she never ran around the stage doing somersaults doesn't mean that she's not going to be tired of it....so, yes, comparing her to them isn't fair. She could continue performing for years and years but maybe just not on the scale that's been done before. maybe much smaller venues?

Additionally, I don't see how grueling touring can be when you are catered to hand and foot by an army of personal assistants, eat in the finest restaurants, stay in the finest hotels, fly in a private jet, ride in limousines, etc. And if you look at their tour schedule, they are taking a nice, leisurely pace with this tour with typically 2-to-5-day breaks in between shows. My life should be so grueling!!

That's easy for you/us to say! I'm not in their shoes so i can't judge what they're going through. It may seem like a life of luxury on the road but there may be a lot more going on that is demanding....and not necessarily physical....they've got to have the mental focus and energy to be able to perform every other night....that in itself is a huge responsibility. and how about the travelling itself? i take a trip for 3 hours on a plane and i'm jet lagged for a good day or so....go to the airport, check your baggage, sit in a slightly claustrophobic space for a few hours, then fly to where you have to go, get off the plane, pick up your bags and then TRY to get out of the airport with all the traffic....THAT in itself is grueling enough!
