Fleetwood Mac rocks Pittsburgh
WOW
I am still high from tonight's concert. What a treat it was. Over 2 1/2 hours of non-stop Mac hits over and over. Packed the house at the Consol Center tonight in Pittsburgh. The show started shortly after 8pm and did not finish until 10:45. The band is REALLY having fun. All smiles and really feeding off the audience. I was 30 rows back center from the stage and it was perfect. I would not change a thing.
The concert had several snafus that added to the evening. During Sisters of the Moon Stevie began to sing holding the microphone. She commented at the end "did you see the microphone problem? That is something I rarely do so it is something new" The microphone slipped out of the stand but she continued singing holding it in her hand. It was something to see!!!
There was another screw up during Say You Love Me. The same problem at Chicago where the beginning did not start properly. I thought they were going to stop the song and begin again like Chicago but the band played on like nothing happened. At the end Christine commented "sometimes this thing works and sometimes it doesn't." This new technology is ruining concerts IMHO.
But the biggest mistake of the night was ground breaking. Mick Fleetwood forgot to introduce John McVie during band intros. After introducing the members Mick started Dont Stop and Christine counted down....1, 2 , 3 until they stopped and realized Mick forgot John. Mick had a huge apology. He said he was firing himself from the band. Christine joked when it was time to start Dont Stop..."should we start now?"
I have not seen Stevie pour so much engery into Gold Dust Woman since the Wild Heart Tour. She was doing convulsions again on stage and vibrating and dancing all over the place!
What a set list! I would not change a thing! I oringially gave the set list a B+. But after the concert I would give it a A+. I Know I am not wrong was a highlight for me. So much energy!
Lindsey really stole the stage with guitar playing. He really soaked up the applause too especially after Big Love and I'm So Afraid.
Christine was amazing!!!! Her vocals sounded like it was the 1980's all over again. She finally did the "God Bless you Pittsburgh, good night" during Songbird.
The crowd was amazing and stood during most of the show. I was doing the same. My only complaint was the guy behind me screaming and spitting all over me when he screamed for Stevie.
Lindsey really is an amazing guitarist. But I think Seven Wonders and Little Lies sounded better with Billy Burnette and Rick vito in 1987. The intro to Little Lies in 1987 and 1990 was keyboard based like the album version. Lindsey created the guitar intro which sounds classic but I prefer the 80's version. I also think the Mac did Seven Wonders better in 1987. But I would not trade Lindsey for the world and the Mac is lost without him.
This band is really having fun. The concert was one of the best ever!!! Sold out and they had many seats almost in back of the stage on the far side. You guys are in for a real treat. Mick commented at the end that they are going on an endless world tour. With the success I saw tonight... no doubt. I am planning on seeing them again later this tour in Sunrise, Florida.
If you have tickets for this show. You are in for a Mac attack show full of non-stop hits!
