I fully credit the rise of the internet generation & culture. Suddenly, everyone can express their geekiest, nerdiest interests, and find tons of support from their peers who agree. It's been like 1 big coming out fest for Stevie fandom the past several years. I love it, and am so glad she's around to witness it. |
I'm glad she's getting the recognition, and it's well-deserved. I think Stevie herself has been working to ensure her "icon" status and preserve her legacy these past several years. She's just been very visible...the American Idol and Voice appearances, Glee, Sound City, Oprah's LifeClass, popping up to sing duets with Adam Levine, etc. She's made a conscious effort these past few years, and it appears to be paying off.
